Retro-Movie Review: The Invasion of The Body Snatchers (1978)
First let me start by saying the Invasion of the Body Snatchers is better than Invasion. Now I don't want to spoil anything for anyone that hasn't seen it yet. It stars Donald Sutherland and Brooke Adams, playing two Public Health Officials in San Francisco. Basically, alien pods link up to people then "hatch" replicas. The movie also features Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park, The Fly), Veronica Cartwright (Alien) and Leonard Nimoy. Overall it was creepy and a pretty satisfying movie.
Acting: 7/10
Story: 9/10
Atmosphere: 10/10
Overall: 9/10
Rated 14-A (ONT) PG (USA)
P.S. Have a happy Halloween!

Demo Review: Mirrors Edge
Mirrors Edge
Good/Bad: GOOD
Although short the Mirrors Edge leaves you wanting more. The combat and some of the more specific moves can be a bit hard to master, you can see that there's a ton of room for the game to let you move around a bit. I think 10-20 years from now Mirrors Edge will be referred to as a Concept Game for First Person Shooters, sort of like Dark Side of The Moon for Rock, in line with Portal and Doom. The basic idea is that you can jump from rooftop to rooftop, trying to escape police in a big brother dystopia. The game has a sort of Matrix feel to it. Think about it, your trying to escape police by jumping long distances in a dystopian world, disarming enemies with martial arts-like moves, with gun play, in a city, and heck there's even "bullet-time". If you were a fan of the matrix you will like this game. Hell I wouldn't mind if this game were called the Matrix.
Anyway like I said at the start I can't really get into the plot because the demo was pretty short and also like I said it left me wanting more. Eventually I will buy this game (After Fable 2, Fallout 3, Rock Band 2 and Gears of War 2), or at least rent it.

Best Game So Far
I said I would not post unless I thought it was important but it is. My god woo!
So I was playing as my team in 2k8, the Hamilton Stingrays. Our rivals biggest rivals are the New Jersey Devils. Who we've played before. Twice actually, both wins.
First was a 4-1 slaughter and then a 5-1 whipping.
This time they came to play...
1st Period
So they start by scoring the first goal about five minutes in. I repeatedly ram the puck at the net but come up empty thanks to Brodeur, who, for those who don't know hockey is one of the greatest goalies of all time.
Second Period
We go into the second period and I tie it up 5 minutes in thanks to Lupul (who is f**king amazing, I had him scratched for some reason but finally added him to defense because we had an injured player then added him to our offensive first line and he got our teams first hat trick in his first game, go figure) .
New Jersey gets an interference penalty shortly after this but I'm unable to capitalize. New Jersey gets a goal. But I answer back immediately with Lupul, adding his second to the night. Unfortunately New Jersey gets another goal with only 30 seconds left in the period. And I'm unable to respond before the 2nd intermission.
The 3rd Period (and yes I changed my format here because its that damned important)
I'm trying my damnedest to get the puck past Brodeur but nothing works.
Finally a chance! The Devils hook Prospal and get a two minute penalty. I'm trying extra hard to no avail, "last minute of play in the third period"...did I mention I'm playing at home too?
Finally with about 40 seconds left I call in the goalie and get a 6th man out, the Devils get the puck and send it down the ice (Still a penalty) and I get Prospal to pass it to Kaberle, 25 seconds on the clock, who skates to the left of the Jersey goal, and then he fires the puck to the center where Hemsky, my defencemen unloads a rocket at the net, Brodeur just misses with his glove, GOAL! WITH ONLY 13 SECONDS LEFT! We go... into overtime...
Overtime
Overtime, being 5 minutes, always go by quickly and this is not an exception, but wow were there some close calls, Toskala worked his magic and my players would barely escape with the puck. We're going to a shoot-out baby.
The Shootout
well if you have to go into a shoot-out against anyone it shouldn't be Brodeur. And remember, it's just me here, so I'm doing the goaltending and just trying to score.

- Crosby goes first and I try to shoot from farther away but I get too close, I make an easy save
- Kovalev tries a midrange shot and goes off the post!, I make a glove save
- Zubov and try some of the games Superstar Moves, first up the Through The Legs which I do too late and crash into the goalie, I make a blocker save
- Hemsky goes for a Sweden '95 shot but misses the net completely, glove save
- Kopitar tries a Calling the Shot, which involved me pointing at the boards then shooting at them.
- Fuck the Superstar Moves, I take Kaberle and shoot it into Brodeurs blocker pads,
- I take Lupul, hoping he'll work his magic but Brodeur gloves it
- I finally like some sort of infant child learning to speak use my right control stick to move the puck around. Prospal goes up moving from side to side, he bounces the puck off his skate, deeks Brodeur and SCORES! Thank god now all I have to do is stop this last guy. He comes straight at me, moves to the right, launches the puck at the bottom left corner, my pad comes in... and knocks the puck away! I WIN! Go! Stingrays Go!
Last Post of October
Well October went by as fast as hell. I can't wait for the Christmas season to start. Can't wait for November 1st ...ooh new AC/DC is on the radio... because it's the only good thing about Halloween for adults, cheap chocolate bars. I've beaten my record for most posts in a month with 13. Yesterday I fell asleep at like 7PM and woke up then just decided to go to bed till 7AM.
I think Monopoly at McDonald's is probably the greatest restaurant contest of all time, and 2nd goes to Roll up the Rim from Tim Horton's. But what I hate about Monopoly now is their go online crap, not Monopoly in particular because it's actually kind of fun. But I'm talking about pop bottles which advertise a fucking contest and I buy it and look under the cap and it tells me to enter a code at their fucking website. No thanks, I have no interest in a contest on your fucking website, I DID have interest in a contest on your fucking pop. A reliable pop though has always been Crush brand pop because they DO have whether you win or not under the cap. The thing that pisses me off about that is one time I won and tried to get another pop at the place I bought it but they wouldn't except them. WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS? NEW LAW! YOU CAN'T SELL SHIT WITH CONTESTS ON IT IF YOU DON'T ACTUALLY GIVE WINNERS THEIR SHIT!
Well I'm done with my little rant, see you in November unless I have more important shit to say tomorrow. Bye.

This Week in Fantasy Sports AND FIREFOXED
MID-POST UPDATE:
I've had enough with Internet Explorers bullshit. Every time I go to the CBSSports website the fucker closes and restarts and I'm fed up. I've downloaded Mozilla's Firefox and I'm not going back because Firefox is better. In the status bar you can control Itunes and get weather reports. It's 100% faster than IE anyway. If your thinking of switching do so.
Well this week was a mixed bag full of candy and shit. First I remember to check my College Football teams...on FRIDAY! I then realize my 8-0 winning streak is at risk because most of my players are on BYE! AH!

Well this week was a mixed bag full of candy and shit. First I remember to check my College Football teams...on FRIDAY! I then realize my 8-0 winning streak is at risk because most of my players are on BYE! AH!
So I make some emergency trades and have everything sorted before any damage can be done. But guess what, I forgot to change my NFL teams on Friday, and Saturday and finally remember Sunday at 6:31 PM. All the games were at 1PM. Tony Romo is still my QB from last week. Tons of players are on BYE. Yeah. So here we go:
College Football Week 9
Niagara Maulers vs Past Masters- Projected: Maulers by 19
Actual: Niagara Maulers 147 to 55 Past Masters
Analysis: Less than half of their team was actually not on BYE weeks.Actual: Niagara Maulers 147 to 55 Past Masters
Trades: Everyone did superb but I'm gonna have to trade someone for someone not on BYE
Stingers vs B3AST- Projected: Stingers by 21
Analysis: Again everyone did their job and performed amazingly
Trades: None of my team is on BYE so none. This week I go for a 10 game winning streak!
NFL Football Week 8
Hamilton Maulers vs Jumpin- Projected: Jumpin by 42
Analysis: Brees made up for last week and the Giants D and Smith did excellent
Trades: Steve Smith, Brees and I'm missing two WRs because of BYE. So we'll see what happens tomorrow morning.
Maulers vs Cables Crew- Projected: Cables Crew by 22 (This is one time I wish they were right)
Analysis: Romo was gone and everyone but Lynch and Johnson played like crap
Trades: Don't know yet
NHL Period 3
Stingers- My team finished tied for 5th this time, much better, it got us to third in standings
Analysis: The game is much different from football, but Crosby and others are starting to perform better.

Weird/Most Kickass Dream Ever
Okay so it starts off in England where over time a small island has
crashed into the mainland and is now sinking, buildings are collapsing
and everything. A news reporter sees a gun going off, and a detective
believes it to be a gun used in a recent murder. So I'm sent in, I did
this before with a speeding car I guess. Under the cover of a black
smoke grenade I grab the gun and get off the island before anyone sees
me. I'm like a Splinter Cell.
Next I'm in some sort of Italian town where terrorists have attacked. I'm just running through the streets kicking ass, COD4 style with a knife and pistol. Finally I shoot at one
guy but I miss (bad angle) and he runs. I follow him but then I hear on
the radio "You will all perish when the z-somthing bomb goes off.
Suddenly like in COD4 I see a star on my radar right next to me. I see a
small wooden box which I hear beeping coming from, I run up to it and
rip it apart. Within the box is a small wooden chest. The beeping is
increasing. I flip over the chest and open it, and see the bomb!
Then...
the phone rings.
Weird thing, all the terrorists wore white and had red eyes (some robotic).

Game Review: Fight Night Round 3
This is a game that I have admittedly had for a long time now. But I don't like to review a game until I've finished it completely (Which is why GTAIV doesn't have a review yet). The game is solid though, and pretty fun. Biggest problem with the game, lack of story. The do hint at a rivalry sort of like Pokemon Ash/Gary but most of it's left to the imagination. The meat of the game, the boxing, is done quite well. You get some places to choose to have the fight at but really there's not as many as there could be. The game is well made and never froze up or anything, in fact I don't believe I had a single glitch while playing. The graphics are great, what can I say, there's a lot of detail, especially when you get a knockout and you see blood/sweat come pouring out of someones mouth and their nose crumple up like a chip bag. Another great thing is the player creation tools which are quite in depth and the training as well.
There was one thing that really annoyed me. In the last fight of the game (that you get achievements for at least) For some reason it's pretty much impossible to win. I tried 5-10 times. But then, months later, I read on Gamefaqs.com to use buttons instead of the stick for punching. I do that and get 4 knockdowns and a knockout in my first try! What the hell is up with that discrepancy?
In conclusion the game is limited by itself. It's boxing, a two person sport. There's two guys, they duke it out and that's it. It's great for a while but it's not going to hold you over like other games will.
Programming: 9/10 : Very fluid and I found no bugs
Graphics: 9/10 : Nicely detailed espicially as a launch title
Story: 5/10 : None except some reappearing opponents
Atmosphere: 8/10 : There's a couple of arenas to choose from and the commentary is good.
Control: 7/10 : Like I said, why the huge difference between Buttons and Stick?
Overall: 8/10 : I got this game for one reason achievements. You can probably get it used or rent it to get some achvs. but the game isn't going to over throw Halo 3 or COD4 anytime soon.
